QWhen can I visit the shrine?
The shrine is open all year round and you can enter free of charge. The main shrine is open 6:00 to 20:00 from May 1st to November 30st and 6:00 to 18:00 from December 1st to April 30th. In addition, the kasuga-dourou stone lanterns along the front path to the main shrine are lit everyday from sunset to closing. The goods shop in the main shrine is open from 9:00 to 17:00. The Yui no Yashiro shrine and rear shrine can be visited anytime.

QIs there parking?
Kifune Shrine has four parking lots, including private parking. Since the number of parking spaces are limited we recommend visiting the shrine via public transportation if possible.

QCan I visit using a motor coach?
When visiting as a group with a motor coach, in order to reduce traffic congestion the Kyoto Traffic Committee has enacted traffic regulations for periods when motor coaches are prohibited. When traveling during regulated periods, make sure to apply for a Road Travel Permission (dourou tsuukou kyokashou). Furthermore, due to the limited availability of motor coach parking spaces, please reserve well in advance.

QWhen is it possible to receive prayers the shrine?
Prayers are provided at all times at the “Prayer Reception Desk” in the goods shop inside the main shrine between 9:00 to 15:30. Information regarding prayers will be provided at 9:30. Prayers may at certain times not be provided due to rituals, weddings and other events. Contact us in advance for group applications.

QWhere can I return old ofuda (talismans) or omamori (amulets)?
Please return talismans and amulets directly to the shrine maidens at the goods shop in the main shrine. If due to distance or other circumstances you are unable to return them directly, please send them addressed to us.
* During New Years, please send them to the “Old Talisman Temple Office” within the main shrine. -
QHow can I get to Kifune Shrine from Kurama-dera temple?
By foot: From the Kurama-dera Honden Kondo (main golden hall), go through the Ki-no-Ne Michi path toward the Kurama-dera West Gate
By train/bus: get on at Kurama station and get off at Kibuneguchi station, then ride the Kyoto Bus for 4 minutes until you reach the “Kibune” bus stop -
QWhen are the stone lanterns along the front path to the main shrine lit?
The stone lanterns are lit everyday from sunset to 20:00.

QCan I visit the shrine with a wheelchair or a stroller?
There are numerous stone stairs on the way to the main shrine and inner shrine . As such, please be careful when visiting the shrine using a wheelchair or stroller.
